What's Social Software all about?

Basically, its about online communication and interactivity tools that allow people to work, play and socialise with each other. It includes emails, chat, newsgroups or forums, instant messaging, blogs, wikis, file and image sharing sites and online communities.

Sometimes people refer to social software as Web 2.0 - describing how the Internet has evolved from simply viewing websites, sending emails and file transfers to a system that supports and encourages networking between people around the world.

Like other things in life, it requires a little investment in learning to use these new tools, but once you know how easy it is, I'm sure you will consider it worth the effort. Tell me what you think.......
